This is an interesting, fast-paced and a book that is filled with action. the book starts with 16-year old Katniss Everdeen, and her friend Gale, are hunting in the woods. It is explained that they are in the forbidden woods of district 12, the poorest district in the land of Panem, which “rose out of the ashes of a place called north america.” The people in district 12 often have no food to eat, but soon they must go to “ the reaping” for a cruel sport that the leading of Panem makes the district do, the Hunger Games. Each district must send 1 boy and 1 girl, aged 12 to 18, randomly selected, to compete in a large arena with basic weapons, to kill each other. Only person, or tribute, can remain alive and win. When Kattniss’ sister Prim is selected, she volunteers herself to go instead of her. The boy tribute is Peeta Mellark, a boy who help Katniss once after her father’s death. When family and friends are allowed to visit, her family wishes her luck, and Gale reveales he is noit with the capitol for forcing everyone to do this. The 2 tributes then meet Haymitch, their trainer, who is the only man alive who has won the hunger games in district 12, but he is hopelessly drunk. After the training sessions, Katniss recieves the highest reviewed scorce ou tof all the tributes, 11/12. In the interviews, Peeta says he is in love with her, and at first Katniss is noit at him, but then him and Haymitch reveal it as an act to gain sponsors. As the games begin, people are killed as the arena is controllled, and alliances are formed between the most unlikely of tributes, as they are waiting for the final call. I like this book much, because o fthe action in it, and this authors style of writing. 8.4/10
