Flowers For Algernon is by Daniel Keyes and is a very interesting but at the same time very sad. It is about a man called Charlie Gordon who was born with brain problems as well as a rude family. He gets sent away by his mother after she finally admited he was retarded, and he was sent off to his Uncle Herman. When he died, Charlie started to work at a bakery, but with an IQ of 70, he cannot do difficult tasks in the bakery. He is now 32 years old, and still cleans/ sweeps the floor of the same bakery until he is offered to go through a dangerous procedure to raise his IQ during a major surgery. After it, when Charlie learns things, he has the ability to remember it. At the end, he ends up with an IQ of 186, until he starts to degress.
