This book is great it is highly recommendable and i would say you should read it. At first its kind of boring but if you read on it is great. This is just some inside on the book. Hard Times is not set in London (like most of Charles Dickens books) but it was set in the imaginary mid-Victorian Northern Industrial town of Coketown. Its blackened factories, downtrodden workers and polluted environment. This is the soulless place where strict utilitarian Thomas Gradgrind and coldhearted factory owner Josiah Bounderby. However joy and happiness is in the book thanks to "Mr. Slearly's Horse Riding circus". Its a hilarious troop of openhearted and affectionate people who act as well as horse ride. The people who act also has an antidote to all the drudgery and misery endured by the ordinary citizens of Coketown.
Hard Times as i am told is best known for its "sullen socialism". Its a great book filled with a lot of fun and games and emotions combined. But warning this book has a repetition. ENJOY!!! You could borrow this book in the library.
