This is a very interesting book that draws you in. It is about 3 scholars, Jack, John, and Charles, who are called together one night for the murder of Professor Stellan Sissguardian, who is John’s teacher. They meet a man named Bert, who says they are caretakers of the Imaginarium Geographica, an atlas of all the islands in myth and legend. Before they can discuss further, beasts named Wendigo chase them to the docks, and they climb aboard Bert’s Daughter’s-Aven- Ship, the Indigo Dragon. Bert explains the Wendigo are minions of the Winter King, a deadly warlord, and they are headed to the lands within the Geographica, the Archipelago of dreams. They reach an island called Avalon, and meet the 3 Pandora and their servant ‘Bug’. They set sail, after hearing from them, and discover that Bug has slipped aboard. They are stopped by the Winter King’s flagship, the Black Dragon, but captain Nemo and the Nataulius, or Yellow Dragon fight the Winter King instead. They arrive at the governing island, Parlon, and are met by a talking badger named Tummler. He drives them to the council at Parlon, where the 5 branches (Human, Elf, Dwarf, Goblin, and Troll) debate whether to make the Winter King king of the silver throne. However, the human branch is revealed as clockwork men and the trolls invade and claim Parlon. The companions and Tummler manage to escape to the lair of Sammarath, a dragon, and choose his offer of tea over death. Sammarath manages to motivate John to translate the geographica, and they are off. They are intercepted by the Black dragon again, and, after a quick fight, they are captured and brought to the mercy of the winter king. He demands the Geographica, and to everyone’s surprise, John gives it to them. they sink him along with his second in command-Magwich. John reveals that he gave the winter king a copy of the cookbook that Tummler gave him. They wash ashore and are met by a man called Ordo Maas, the builder of the dragonships. he explains his past and says that Bug’s real name is Artus and he is the heir to the silver throne. He then explains that Magwich is the thief of Pandora’s box, which the Winter King used to create his army. They then set out to find the creator of the Geographica, and fight the winter king for once and for all. (still in book.) This is a very interesting book that creates suspense and questions in the mind of the reader. It draws you in and is very exciting.
