the cat ate my gymsuit - reading challenge

the cat ate my gymsuit (wierd title, there isnt even a cat in the novel) is about this girl called Marcy Lewis who is smart, but she hates school and she thinks she's ugly and too fat. She hates her father because he always complain about how ugly and fat she is. her mom supports her and her little brother wants to be her best friend so that she could help him stuff orange pitts into this hole in his teddy's head (called wolf). she doesn't have any friends except Nancy Sheridan (very popular and glamorous girl), though Marcy thinks that Nancy only be friends with her because of the connection between her mom and Nancy's mom. Marcy also never goes to gymclass, so she made excuses like the cat ate my gymsuit, etc.

Marcy's life changed since Ms. Finney came along (an english teacher). she replaced Mr. Edwards which left after a month (Marcy thinks it's because he thought he was a horrible teacher, so he left). Before Ms. finney came along they had a lot of substitutes which never lasted more than 2 days.

Ms. Finney taught the children in a very unique and fun way. she also makes a club (i dont remember the name) on monday after school and Marcy joins and meets new people. She also gets a chance to talk to this guy she likes named Joel (I dont remember the last name) and even though she has been in the same class as him for a few years, she doesnt have the nerve to talk to him because she think it'll ruin his reputation.

but when ms. finney is suspended because a lot of teachers and parents complain about her teaching method, Marcy, nancy and joel team up and create a team to rebel against it so that Ms.Finney keeps her job. though someone in their team tells the principal and they are suspended. and there is a court in their school to say about this problem. marcy, nancy and joel come and watch. Me. Finney wins, but she makes a speech that she doesnt want to continue her job because of all the comotion in the town.
