It starts off when Ariadne gives Theseus the ball of string and sword, to help him find the way to the minotaur and fight it.
Theseus thanked Ariadne and was on his way. The dark hallways were smothering, and smelt of many rotted corpses. The walls were damp and what little light there was, was gloomy. He wondered through the corridors, carefully leaving the trail of sting behind him until he heard a roaring snore, that he knew must be the sleeping minotaur. His greasy pelt was mattered with dirt and blood, from a thousand men and there were carcases lying all around the den.
Theseus held up his sword and shield, and charged toward the minotaur, but suddenly he stopped. The minotaur was awake, but not making any move to flick away the intruder. Theseus knew his massive arms would crush a mans skull, and his needle sharp horns could impale a mans body, yet he was not trying to harm the man sent to kill him. Instead, he let out a single tear, and Theseus felt sorry for the beast. He was an outcast, thrown away from society, but the minotaur had his own story to tell.
"My father is king Minos. Before I was born, he fought with my uncles over the thrown. Minos decided to sacrifice a magnificent white bull, as graceful as a swan, yet as free as a wild horse. Poseidon was happy with the sacrifice, and made Minos the king. Minos was to kill the bull, but instead, kept it because it was too beautiful to sacrifice. Poseidon made Minos's next son, me, the half man half bull beast that I am today. I was peaceful at first, but everyone tried to kill the 'monster' which is why I had to attack, in self defense." He explained, as another tear trickled down his hairy cheek.
Theseus pitied the poor creature, so he decided to help him. "Listen, I am going to let you out of here. I know the way back to the entrance. If we kill the guards, we can escape on my ship.
They strolled back to the entrance of the labyrinth, taking their time to make sure they had enough breath to make a run for it when they arrived at the entrance.
Finally, Minotaur and Theseus made their way back, and Ariadne was waiting for Theseus, but received a huge shock when she saw the Minotaur and him chatting so casually. Theseus wished he could thank her, but he had a job to do, a soul to save. After giving her a wave, he sprang forward in time with Minotaur and crashed through the sealed door. The tumble of stones crushed one guard, and the other was slain by Theseus' blade. They darted forward until they reached the ocean, where Theseus' ship and men were waiting for them. The boat took flight, and we kilometers away before anyone arrived at the shore.
Little did they know, the person first there was Ariadne, whom they had all forgotten about in the rush. She had wished for a way out of Crete, but was too stunned to say anything to Theseus when he brought the Minotaur.
In their hurry to get away from Crete, Theseus forgot to put up the white sail. From far away from his home city, Theseus' father thought he was dead, and jumped off a cliff, into the ocean where he died.

Hmmmm, I quite like your alternative ending when he didn't betray Ariadne and leave her on the lonely island. I think it is quite sad that you still made the King died when Theseus forgot to put up a white sail.
He left Ariadne at crete so he was still a bit bad
