Alternative Ending-Northern Lights. from page 390

I am writing an Alternative Ending for the book "NORTHERN LIGHTS" by Philip Pullman. I am starting from page 390, and before that here is a bit that Puilip wrote, to help you understand a bit more.
' Fifty yards awayin the starlight Lord Asriel was twisting together two wires that led to his upturned sledge, on which stood a row of batteries and jars and pieces of apparatus, already frosted with crystals of cold. He was dressed in heavy furs, his face illuminated by the flame of a naphtha lamp. Crouching like the Sqhinx beside him was his daemon, her beautiful spotted coat glossy with power, her tail moving lazily in the snow.
In her mouth she held Roger's daemon.
The little creature was struggling, flapping, fighting, one moment a bird, the nxt a dog, then a cat, a rat, a bird again, and calling every moment to Roger himself, who was a few yards off, straining, trying to pull away against the heart-deep tug, and crying out with the pain and the cold. He was calling his daemons's name, and calling Lyra; he ran to Lord Asriel and plucked his arm, and Lord Asriel brushed him aside. He tried again, crying and pleading, begging, sobbing, and Lord Asriel took no notice except to knock him to the ground.'

After that there are more pages, but this is my alternative ending.

The sky suddenly bloomed with bright shades of every colour, as Lord Asriel connected the wires. Roger pulled himself back up, and he beat against Lord Asriel's arm, pleading. Lyra could not stand it anymore, and she quickened her pace to a run, screaming out to her friend with all the might she could muster.
"Roger! I'm coming Roger! We'll get out of this together!" She sobbed, frozen tears rolling down her cold face, as Pantalaimon was swooping above her, an eagle. Snow was swirling down around her, blocking her view but every time she wiped it off her bloodshot eyes, she was feet closer than before. She cried out again and she saw Roger's daemon struggling against the fierce snow leopard, changing form as fast as an eye could blink, but becoming weaker every moment.
Lyra saw something above her, and she looked up to see another bird flying with Pantalaimon. She feared for his life, as well as her because it was more than likely that this bird was an enemy witches daemon, but when she looked more closely, she saw it was a magnificent male goose, and she cried out in joy.
"Roger! Help is here! Serafina Pekkala has come to save us!" She yelled out in triumph, as the goose daemon was charging at the snow leopard, with Roger's weak daemon still in her jaws.
Lyra was now just meters away from Roger and her father, when she heard a screech coming from behind her. She skidded to a halt, and realized in horror that a large crow daemon was diving at the goose-daemon at an amazing speed, and her beloved Pantalaimon was veering at him, to help Serafina Pekkala's daemon and to give him time to free Roger's daemon who was now limp in the shape of a sparrow. She fell to the ground as she felt the impact, but she pulled herself back up and made a final leap toward her father. He was pushed to the ground as she kicked and fought for her life, when suddenly the weight was lifted. Serafina Pekkala was holding him as Lyra was panting, every breath seemed like it could be her last.
"Serafina! You ca-" She was inturupted but the witch.
"Lyra, run! I can not hold him forever, and the other witch will be here soon enough. Take your friend and run! Run to Iorek and stay safe young one. I know our futures will be entwined, but farewell for now dear Lyra.
Without more needed to say, she woke up Roger and pulled him up.
"Roger, we have to move! Lord Asriel will surely kill you, and I know it is a lot to ask you but you are my dearest friend and I came all this way to save you so please gather all the strength you have and run!"
They started to amble out, slowly but surely, as their two daemons ran with them, urging the children on if they slowed down.
"This is it Roger, we are safe. Iorek will take care of us, I know, and we won't ever have to see my mother or father again, we can live happily with the bears!" Lyra rasped, every word burning in her throat, but as she saw the great palace wreckage of when Iofur was the king of bears, she knew it was true. After all this time, all this effort Lyra knew that she was secure, and she and Roger would make a new home with no one to harm them.
The children walked up to the new palace, new confidence blossoming in them. The great bear stood at the gate and said, "Greetings, Lyra Silvertongue."
